Word are empty unless they are backed up by actions.
Let’s be honest, when we think of vending machines “healthy” isn’t what comes to mind. Vending machines is where you go to get candy bars at 2 am in a hotel when you travel. It’s not the where you go to get healthy food. Which is why I had to take this picture. The sign on top of the vending machine says “Fresh! Healthy Vending”. So I stopped to see what kind of “healthy snacks” I could find in the machine. There weren’t any. The healthiest thing in the machine was bottled water.
This was false advertisement.
Which leads me to my Everyday Cathedral for today. We can say what we want about who we are as a person, but if our actions don’t back up our words, our words are worthless. It’s a matter of character and integrity. As Stephen Covey taught us more than 20 years ago personality is not the same as character. You can fool others for a while with your personality, but eventually your character will be revealed.
“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” (Proverbs 22v1, NRSV)
